SBIC Committees
The Council is governed by a 19 member Board of Directors and a seven-member Executive Committee. Additional ad-hoc Committees guide its strategic and tactical actions. Each SBIC member is asked to volunteer to serve of one of these committees. Committees typically meet by phone and in person 6 times per year or when specific projects arise.

The Schools Committee guides staff and provides technical input to the High-Performance School Buildings Program. This includes the High-Performance School Buildings Resource and Strategy Guide, workshops, technical training, and on-line resources for K-12 school decision-makers and Architects and Engineers who will enable school districts to build a new generation of high-performance, sustainable schools.

The Marketing & Promotions Committee identifies important market segments for SBIC education and training and ensures that all programs consistently promote the whole building approach to design.
Policy Committee
The Policy Committee establishes SBIC's agenda on public policy issues related to buildings and assists Staff in developing and implementing strategies to promote this agenda. For the 2009-20010 Membership Year the Committee has identified the following three objectives: 1) Track progress of Section 914 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and advocate for funding towards listed activities; 2) Ensure that “high-performance” language is specified in relevant legislation; and 3) Participate in coalitions of like-minded organizations (including the High-Performance Building Congressional Caucus Coalition and the Clean Energy Tax Incentives Coalition). Visit the Advocacy page for updates on SBIC's policy activities.
Nominations Committee
The Nominations Committee is activated once a year to elect members to the Council Board and to consider nominations for Honorary Members of the Council.
